The year 2011 marks the 30th anniversary of Katbaloganons in Canada. Started in 1981, this organization brought together a handful of journeymen that endured the vast territory of this land, seeking greener pastures and pursuing their dreams; so elusive in their native soil. Our rendezvous are simple gatherings meant to ease the longing for home and loved ones that were left behind; to rebuild the good times that were ever memorable in Catbalogan, one feeling so nostalgic and deeply etched in both minds and hearts. To do that, we have constructed a new story from the foundation fabricated from the piety of our forebears and bring the spontaneous laughter and good cheer that are center of social events in Catbalogan. As an association, the Katbaloganons of Canada is confident that we would take advantage of passing time for growth to a stronger pact. Old guards may soon fade away, but our younglings, among are children of current members have been encouraged to recruit; the infusion of new blood will further strengthen this organization. In the past, the children used to join the novenas and festivities out of curiosity, to soak themselves to sumptuous Filipino food, embracing our culture by get-togethers, meeting other Filipino children. Now, they have grasped more substance to these gatherings, have realized the depth of our friendship and faith. The devotion to St. Bartholomew is both tradition and legacy built on faith- the ability to bridge the past to the future, while remaining in the present. We therefore, are honoured and privileged to dedicate this whole site not only for our Patron Saint, but to the people of Catbalogan, and the children of tomorrow. |
